Finally got to fish the river! Water levels were still high but not flooded for a change. Had some decent temps but the rain would not hold off. Despite the weather and water levels, we did have some nice fish turned in. First place went to Brian Huff for a nice 5 fish stringer weighing in at 23lbs1oz total. KC Knight took Second place with 3 fish weighing 14lbs12oz followed by Dwain Hall's 4 fish stringer weighing 14lbs11oz. Zach Leach won the Big Fish pot with a 7lb7oz Channel Cat. Zach also... Sorry for the delay in posting. For the third tournament in a row this year, the rains and water levels forced us to the lake. It was a nice night to be out fishing though! The temps stayed comfortable and the precipitation was not a factor for a change. We had 11 anglers show up and 9 of them brought fish to weigh in. We were once again forced to fish Tappan Lake. The river levels were looking promising until the rain from Friday night and Saturday morning started to settle in. Within a few hours time the river came up 2 feet and with muddy banks and cold water temps., safety had to be considered. The weather was a little more cooperative during the tournament with temps. in the low to mid 40's most of the night and a pretty steady drizzle with some occasional hard showers. We had some pretty rough weather for the season opener. The temps were in the low to mid 30's all night with scattered rain (snow?) showers. There were 10 participants that showed to brave the conditions and only 4 caught fish large enough to weigh in. It wasn't the best night to be out fishing but we still had 11 people show up to fish. With temps in the low 50's and a steady rain all night long, it definitely was a test of endurance. Thanks to all who pushed through the tough conditions! First place went to Renee Huff who turned in 5 fish weighing 20lbs and 11ozs. It was a nice night to be out fishing even though it did get a bit chilly after dark. We had quite a few nice stringers turned in along with a very nice Flathead. First Place went to Chuck Snyder who brought back 5 fish for a total weight of 37 pounds 15 ounces. This was including the big fish... an 18 pound 9 ounce Flathead. Once again, mother nature was not being very cooperative. Temperature wise it was a nice night to be out but the rain started right at 6pm. Had a few light drizzles moments but for the most part it rained pretty hard and steady for the first 2-1/2 hours of the tournament. Despite the weather, we still had 9 entries. Well, what can we say.... Another weather ridden tournament. Mother nature decided we should start fishing with temps in the low 90's and then blessed us with cooler weather toward evening. Unfortunately, the cooler temps came with a price! The thunderstorms moved in just before 10:00 and soaked just about everyone and everything. Once again, sorry for the delay. Just got finished moving and had to wait for the internet to get hooked up. We had 11 entries with all but 3 turning in fish. Seemed to be a good night (just not for me and my partner!). First place was Renee Huff with a limit of 5 fish weighing in at 20lbs10oz followed by Zach Leach with a nice 15lbs2oz stringer of 3 fish. The weather started out good for this weeks
tournament but a little too hot at somewhere close to 90 degrees. Then around 10:00 we got
hit with a thunderstorm that tested everyone's

With the high water conditions on the Tuscarawas
River, the TCBA was forced to do something that we hadn't done in a few
years, we held a club tournament on Tappan Lake. The weather was warm
and breezy with the threat of a thunderstorm but thankfully the heavy
rains held off until just after weigh ins. I think the channel cats
were on spawn but a few guys managed to bring back a couple of NICE fish.

The night started out pretty hot. I believe it was around 85 degrees at the start of the tourney and the sun was fierce. After the sun went down, it was a beautiful night. The catfish bite seemed to be tough but the gar and turtles were tearing up the baits! Are the cats starting their spawn already? It is possible. It was a nice evening/night to be out cattin'. Temps were in the upper 60's most of the night with a slight breeze and an occasional shower. The showers weren't hard or long lasting, just enough to let you know mother nature was aware we were outside. The bite unfortunately seemed to be tough for such a nice night. The number of entries were down, probably due to there being 2 - 3 other catfish tournaments being held, but out of 9 entries, there were only 10 fish turned in. First place and $54... weather that we had it was 45 degrees and raining off and on with heavy
winds and we still had a decent turnout and some really big fish turned
in tonight!
This was a "BIG CHANNEL CAT" tournament held on Tappan Lake with NO
boats allowed! It was put on to raise money to help Darlene at
Cripple Creek with expenses!
We had 12 entries which resulted in $120.00 to help Darlene out and a $60.00 first place prize.

The forecast was for scattered thunderstorms but fortunately, we were spared. It turned out to be a good night for fishing as far as the weather was concerned. The bite, on the other hand, did not seem to cooperate with most of our anglers. We had 14 people enter and only had 4 come back to weigh ins with fish. With a major cold front blowing through and temps
starting out in the mid 40's at starting time and dropping into the
upper 30's by weigh in the fishing was TOUGH and the turnout was
down a little. Some guys still managed to find the BIG FISH and we
had some outstanding weight totals turned in! Out of 14 entries, 5 managed to get on some fish. We had a total of 13
fish turned in for a total weight of 73 lbs 8 oz!

Had a nice turn out with 19 paid entries. The weather tried to cooperate by blowing the rain past us but the wind forgot to stop! It was 70 degrees, overcast, and windy at the start of the tourney and dropped down to about 48 degrees by weigh in time. Colder than they were forecasting but still not a bad night to be cattin'.
